💡 KEY SMART HOME TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO:

1. Check Your Wi-Fi Bands: Most smart plugs (like the Tapo P125M Matter plug) ONLY work on a 2.4GHz network. If your phone is connected to a 5GHz band or a mesh repeater (like an eero) while your plug is talking directly to an Xfinity gateway on 2.4GHz, Apple Home won’t see it! Make sure both devices are on the exact same SSID/network.

2. Mesh Router Configuration: If you use an eero system, go to Settings – Advanced Networking – Apple HomeKit, and temporarily disable it. This removes restriction layers during the pairing process. You can turn it back on later!

3. Split Your Wi-Fi Bands: Learn how to log into your Xfinity router app, access Wi-Fi details, and use “Split Bands" to give your 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks completely different names. This forces your phone to stay on 2.4GHz during setup.

4. The Hardware Reset: If all else fails, press and hold the physical power button on your Tapo smart plug for 5 seconds until the LED starts flashing, then scan the QR code again.
