Goodbye to HomeKit and Looking Ahead to Apple Home in 2026 and beyond
f you’ve been using Apple Home for a long time, the original HomeKit framework is no longer being supported after today.
Apple confirmed in 2025 that support for its original HomeKit architecture will officially end on February 10, 2026. That date gives users a clear final deadline to move to the newer system, but it also represents something bigger than a technical upgrade. It marks the end of a long transition period that started several years ago, as Apple slowly evolved HomeKit into something faster, more reliable, and far better suited to the smart homes we live in today.
This isn’t Apple suddenly changing direction. This has been happening quietly, step by step, under the surface.
And to really understand why this moment matters, we need to look back at where it all started.
