Computer That Saved Apple From Bankruptcy 😳#shorts

In the late 1990s, Apple was reportedly just months away from financial ruin. Personal computing was dominated by dull, beige desktop towers that all looked identical. How did one bold design decision change the entire course of tech history?

Enter the iMac G3. Designed with a philosophy of sheer simplicity and expressive industrial style, it ditched the boring beige aesthetic for translucent, see-through casings across a spectrum of candy “flavors”—from original Bondi Blue to Tangerine, Lime, Strawberry, Ruby, Indigo, and Graphite. Apple made radical engineering moves: completely eliminating the aging floppy drive, going all-in on the emerging USB standard, integrating stereo speakers into an all-in-one CRT enclosure, and introducing the memorable round “hockey puck” mouse. It went on to sell millions of units, defined the look of Y2K technology, and placed Apple firmly back at the center of culture. Today on DiyTech, we look back at the candy-colored revolution.
