Porto Palácio Congress Hotel & Spa – Winter Family Holiday and Swimming Pools

Porto Palácio Congress Hotel & Spa in Porto, Portugal, five star hotel, filmed pre-Covid-19. Perfect hotel for winter break with very cheap deals in January in the week before school starts. Lovely indoor spa that is in the basement floor of the building. 3 different heated indoor pools – one of which is a large shallow kids pool that is much warmer than the others with a long swimming lane. I couldn’t find much information online about what exactly you get with an Executive Room – these are made up of two interconnected rooms which are ideal for a small family to travel in. Breakfast is also very good but very expensive running at €60 – we only had it once and the other times we decided to get breakfast out and you could buy a full breakfast for four for less than €5 with coffee, pastries and juices. Location is really good inbetween the old and new parts of the city with many sightseeing areas within less than €5 Uber range.

Plenty for kids to do including the beach, museums, old city, etc. The Galeria da Biodiversidade was a real highlight with lots of interactive and interesting exhibits for the children. The World of Discoveries was definitely not worth the money nor was it very educational.
