This video is about Minecraft performance testing on my MacBook Pro 16” with M1 Max, 32 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and 10 CPU cores. Specifically I compare the Intel java build vs the ARM build, and I test out Sildur’s Vibrant Shaders and compare the performance of Optifine, Sodium and Iris. Using a performance enhancing mod like Sodium as well as the native ARM Java can give x5 the performance of Intel Java which is used by standard Microsoft/Mojang version of Minecraft, so it’s definitely worth making these small tweaks in order to hugely increase performance.

As you might be able to tell from my voice and the timestamps I started recording this in November 2021, however I was interrupted as I managed to catch Covid-19! This is why my voice changes and also why I’m testing Minecraft version 1.18 rather than the latest 1.18.1 and a slightly older version of Sildur’s Vibrant Shaders.
