1999 iMac G3 | Secret VGA Port

The 1999 iMac G3: Secret Port info below!

From a hardware perspective it was a regular VGA port which meant except standard VGA cables.

But from from a software perspective it was limited in proprietary ways:

1. It only supported video mirroring.

2. It did not support independent monitor set ups where you could drag windows between monitors.

3. The resolution and refresh rates were dictated by the internal CRT capability.

Bottom line, it showed Apple’s forward thinking as today’s dual monitor computer set ups are common.
