Original MacBook Pro gets a Core 2 Duo Upgrade
In this video, I go over the process of performing a Core 2 Duo upgrade on a first generation 17″ MacBook Pro. This is an upgrade I’ve tried a couple times in the past, but was never successful. Well, now having a good set of equipment and a lot more experience, I was finally able to make the upgrade happen!
In addition to upgrading the CPU, I was also able to successfully update the machine’s system firmware to MacBookPro2,1 (Late-2006 model) firmware, which enabled full support for the newly-installed Core 2 Duo, and removed the 2GB RAM limitation.
